Plantation Shutters
Plantation shutters are the longest-lasting window furnishing in the catalogue. Once they are in, they tend to stay for the life of the home. We supply them in aluminium for wet rooms and outdoor zones, PVC for value, and timber for heritage and high-end builds.

What we install
- · Aluminium plantation shutters for bathrooms, kitchens and exterior
- · PVC shutters for value-conscious full-home fit-outs
- · Timber shutters for heritage homes and high-spec builds
- · Hinged, bi-fold, sliding and fixed panel configurations
- · Custom blade widths from 63mm through 114mm
Why it works in Melbourne
Heritage Williamstown, Yarraville and Hawthorn homes hold their value with timber shutters that respect the period. New builds in Point Cook and Tarneit lean toward PVC for the bedrooms and aluminium for the wet rooms. We help you pick the right material for each opening rather than running the same product through the whole house.
Warranty
Twelve months workmanship. Manufacturer warranties on shutters typically run ten to twenty-five years depending on material.

Melbourne-wide
Plantation Shutters installs from Geelong to Glen Waverley, six days a week across Melbourne.
With most plantation shutterscompanies, a salesperson measures, a factory builds, and a subcontractor installs. When something doesn’t fit or the finish isn’t right, each party points at the other.
Blinds and Tint Co works differently. Dany handles every plantation shutters job personally — from the initial measure through to installation and warranty. One person accountable for the finished result means problems get solved, not passed along.

Common questions
Plantation Shutters questions, answered
Plantation shutters are the most expensive window furnishing per square metre. PVC shutters start around $350 to $500 per square metre installed. Aluminium for wet rooms and outdoor areas runs $400 to $600. Real timber for heritage or high-end homes sits at $500 to $800 per square metre depending on species and blade width. A standard three-bedroom home with eight to ten windows typically costs $4,000 to $8,000 for a full PVC shutter fit-out. The higher upfront cost is offset by the lifespan — shutters rarely need replacing within twenty-five years.
Aluminium or high-grade PVC. Both are engineered for wet environments and will not warp, swell or delaminate from steam and moisture over time. Real timber shutters in a bathroom will warp within two to three years — the humidity cycle of daily showers pulls moisture into the blade core and the timber moves. Aluminium is the best option for a shower-adjacent window; PVC works well for bathroom windows that get moisture but not direct spray.
The three common blade widths are 63mm, 89mm, and 114mm. Narrower 63mm blades suit small windows, heritage sash windows, and period homes where wider blades look out of proportion. The 89mm blade is the most popular all-rounder — it balances light control, privacy, and visual proportion on standard window sizes. The 114mm blade works on tall or wide openings, bi-fold configurations, and modern homes with large window panels. Wider blades let in more light when open and create a cleaner horizontal line.
Yes, and they are one of the most common requests in heritage areas. A painted timber shutter in a wider 89mm or 114mm blade width mounted inside a period timber frame reads as an original feature rather than a retrofit. For Federation and Victorian homes in Williamstown, Yarraville, and the inner east, we steer toward timber in a painted finish that matches or complements the existing architraves. The key is blade proportion — the blade width needs to suit the window height to look intentional.
